WLG acquires World Commerce Services
Wako Logistics Group, Inc. (WLG), a global provider of integrated transport and logistics services, has announced the completion of its acquisition of Illinois-based logistics and freight-forwarding company World Commerce Services, LLC (WC). Following the acquisition, Remo Picchietti, Jr., will continue as CEO of WC and will serve as the executive vice president of the group. WC, which was acquired by Picchietti in 2004, started operations in 1976. WC provides NVOCC, freight-forwarding, and logistics services and has sales offices in various cities. WLG has emerged as a leading provider of traditional freight-forwarding and freight-management services to clients worldwide.



U.S. Department of Transportation to partner with ITS America
The U.S. Department of Transportation is gearing up to partner with the Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America) in an attempt to improve and expand its Intelligent Transportation Peer-to-Peer Program (ITS P2P). The program, which provides free, short-term assistance to public agencies, will make use of ITS America's large network of industry experts and public agencies to help a larger population gain access to its current programs. P2P program experts provide a variety of intelligent transportation programs and services, such as Amber Alerts, emergency management services, electronic payment options, in-vehicle technologies for passenger and heavy vehicles, fleet operations and maintenance, modeling and simulation, development of intelligent-transportation standards, public safety and security services, procurement, resource and financial services, traffic-control systems, and system design.

NASA seeks input on commercial space-transportation services
NASA is seeking ideas and feedback from various companies in an attempt to offer secure, safe, cost-effective, and reliable logistics services to the International Space Station and other payload-launch services. Input is being sought especially from companies that are working toward providing commercial space-transportation services. The information obtained will aid NASA with structuring future commercial launch-services contracts, as well as with acquiring commercial cargo services to serve the station once the space shuttle becomes obsolete.
