Experts from the North Carolina Botanical Gardens will guide visitors through 1,400 acres of spring blooms at the High Hampton Inn during the annual Wildflower Workshop, May 18-23. Nature's spring wardrobe of blues, pinks, whites and yellows makes this the perfect opportunity to explore and learn amid a profusion of azaleas, rhododendrons, dogwoods, irises and more.

Throughout the weekend, Peter White, director of the North Carolina Botanical Garden, and James Ward, curator of the garden, will lecture on the uses and specialties of indigenous flowers, trees and shrubs, as well as how to help protect them and their habitats.

Days will be filled with walks, field trips, seminars and demonstrations. During the evenings, guests are invited to become better acquainted over cocktails. On Sunday evening the inn will host a wine and cheese reception, inviting guests to converse with the prestigious botanists in a setting outside of the workshop environment.

The cost for the two-day Wildflower Workshop is $370 per person, double occupancy, and $385 single occupancy, plus tax.

The workshop includes registration for six programs, three days and two nights at the High Hampton Inn, six meals, a wine and cheese reception, greens fees at High Hampton's mountain golf course, and complimentary tennis. Wildflower enthusiasts not staying at the inn can participate in the six programs for $110 per person.

The High Hampton Inn & Country Club, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is a classically rustic stone-and-wood mountain inn overlooking the scenery of North Carolina's sliver of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
