Job Details:
SUMMARY: This position is responsible for managing the Transportation Claims department including supervising a team of 7 investigating and mitigating complex and disputed claims and reconciling inter- departmental charges and claims filed against the general ledger balance. The primary function and purpose of this position is to manage the claims department by leading coaching and developing the claims team managing workload investigating and mitigating complex and controversial claims managing the claims budget managing claims accounts receivables researching transportation-related customer deductions managing inter-departmental claim charges negotiating with carriers to resolve and collect open claims assisting claims coordinators with questions and work direction. The Claims Supervisor is responsible for validating the calculation of claims value including product value disposal fees additional transit and warehousing; managing the budget and the financial impact; mitigating incident costs by identifying options for resolving product disposition like least cost disposition alternatives; monitoring the Claims aging. The position requires strong management skills strong organizational time management that would result from working in a high intensity fast- paced work environment knowledge of distribution processes including loading and unloading procedures product handling requirements and knowledge of how refrigerated equipment functions which have been acquired by working at a plant warehouse or in transportation and intermediate skills with Microsoft office products SAP and general office skills that would result from working in a corporate office.
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor s degree or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: 2-3 years of relevant experience in transportation distribution and or warehousing preferred.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Strong computer skills. Knowledge of SAP a plus.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Excellent written and verbal communication to managers and directors providing direction on product disposition and statuses of incidents.
SUPERVISORY: 7 direct reports
TRAVEL: Some travel may be required. Amount of travel will be determined by individual project requirements.
