Global Support Services, LLC (GSS) is seeking a Driver II at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. The Driver transports equipment to and from required locations, takes vehicles to and from maintenance locations, performs vehicle inspections and cleaning, general housekeeping duties in facilities and wash bay, accurately prepares all required paperwork and other job duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
MUST HAVE A SECRET CLEARANCE
Transports equipment throughout the installation and on public roads. Some loads may contain hazardous material.
Prepares, receives and provides appropriate documentation for the delivery or pick up of equipment to ensure timely and accurate transportation.
Must be flexible with work schedule and willing to work until all assignments are complete.
Assure overall appearance, maintenance, and condition of vehicle is in good working order for transporting high ranking officials and passengers.
Assures vehicle is not loaded beyond the rated capacity by checking gross vehicle weight rated (GVWR) of vehicle to be loaded (no overhangs, no vision obstacles.)
Completes trip tickets by annotating daily utilization and preventive maintenance service records (check/completes the daily operation inspection list on the back of the trip ticket).
Completes driver’s accident report if vehicle is involved in an accident.
Performs review of operation inspection checklist and notifies Government POC of any discrepancies.
Drives both commercial and Government-owned automobiles, vans, or trucks for short and long distances.
Must have excellent customer service skills for dealing with general public and high ranking officials.
Assure overall appearance, maintenance, and condition of vehicle is in good working order when transporting or escorting high ranking officials and passengers..

Job Requirements :
Required:
. High School Diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) Certificate.
Must be a steady, reliable worker.
Must be able to read simple instructions and follow simple maps.
Must be able to perform simple tasks independently after being given specific instructions.
Must be able to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to complete each task assignment.
Must have a valid Class A or B commercial driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Highly skilled in driving light and heavy vehicles.
In-depth knowledge of checking vehicle for problems and performing pre/post trip maintenance tasks.
Able to demonstrate a high level of courtesy and professionalism coworkers.
Well-versed in cleaning of both the inside and outside of vehicle.
Able to give accurate and detailed information about routes and journey.
Thorough understanding of motor vehicle engine functionality.
Effective skills in keeping a record of miles traveled.
Proven ability to follow all traffic laws and regulations.

Be able to work outdoors in all weather types. Injury exposure could be minor cuts and bruises; considerable physical effort of hands and arms required..
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This position requires driving and working out of doors in extreme heat/ cold and possibly rainy weather and be able to work shifts if needed. Physical stamina and strength in all of its forms (endurance, temperature/ climate, stress, etc) is necessary.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS
Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
