A transportation analyst reviews data and information; conducts basic analyses; provides assistance to more experienced staff in more complex matters; analyzes the market and competitors to negotiate rates; develops short- and long-term logistics strategies; maximizes trailer efficiency by building full loads and multi-stop load plans; implements assigned projects and maintains detailed documentation; monitors drivers' activities and hours of service; and monitors carrier on-time performance.
To obtain a transportation analyst job, one should have a four-year degree and a few years of experience in a transportation environment. Transportation analyst jobs require the ability to compose documents and reports, so the ability to work on a computer and use Microsoft Word is essential.
