A recent Washington Post article covered a joint statement issued by the Governor and Lieutenant Governor of Virginia in which they disclosed that Stanley Furniture, one of Henry County’s largest employers, would be cutting some 530 jobs. Henry County is located in southern Virginia.
The company, according to the post, will be outsourcing the jobs overseas. Stanley’s announcement has come at time where Virginia communities’ manufacturing sector is suffering. The Governor and Lieutenant Governor have made it a top priority to turn the losses in the manufacturing sector around.
Their initiative, through such incentives as tax credits to businesses that create jobs, has produced some results: over 400 new jobs in the region.
What I liked about the service is that it had such a comprehensive collection of jobs! I was using a number of sites previously and this took up so much time, but in joining EmploymentCrossing, I was able to stop going from site to site and was able to find everything I needed on EmploymentCrossing.
