Ormet to Cut 980 Ohio Jobs

Ormet has informed workers at its Hannibal, Ohio plant that 982 jobs will be cut.The layoffs will affect 833 hourly and 149 salaried positions.
Founded in 1956, Ormet Corp. is an integrated aluminum producer, and manufacturer of custom and standard primary aluminum, foil, sheet, billet and other aluminum products. According to its website, the firm employs 1,100, with more than 900 employees represented by United Steelworkers Local 5724, and 200 salaried employees.
