Dallas Morning News Loses 200 Employees

The Dallas Morning News reduced its workforce by approximately 200 positions this week.The cuts occurred across the entire organization and affected every department. That includes associated companies, such as the Denton Record-Chronicle; Al Día, a Spanish-language publication; and DFW Printing.
The cuts are part of an overall reduction of 500 positions at newpaper’s parent company, AH Belo. The Dallas-based newspaper chain also owns The Providence Journal in Rhode Island and The Press-Enterprise of Riverside, California.
As of the end of 2008, AH Belo had 2,950 full-time and 400 part-time employees.
AH Belo cut 150 TV jobs in March.
