DESCRIPTION
Job Summary
To safely transport and deliver gasoline and distillates by diesel-powered tractor/trailer combination to customer locations with below or above ground tanks.
Job Duties
Inspect truck/trailer combination for defects and safe operating conditions before, during, and after trips and submit a written report on the condition of the truck at the end of each trip or tour of duty.
Load and unload the trailer fuel compartments individually following the terminal loading procedures, as required.
Perform lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying delivery hoses, and maneuvering of loading apparatuses of varying weights.
Properly secure all fuel delivery equipment in the proper trailer compartments.
When hazardous materials are present: check for the proper preparation of shipping papers, check for the agreement between the product loaded and the Hazmat placards, and the placards are properly placed.
Proper operation of a tractor/trailer combination to destination in accordance with federal regulations.
Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skills in maneuvering vehicle at varying speeds and in difficult situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather, or in tight delivery locations.
Ensure that all shipping documents required to move transport are available for inspection and the appropriate paperwork accompanies shipment when delivered.
Perform all duties in accordance with company policy, terminal loading policy, customer location policy, and comply with all federal, state, and local regulations for safe operation of a commercial vehicle.
Report all accidents involving driver and/or company equipment.
Report highway safety hazards noted en route.
Promptly report any delays due to breakdown, weather or traffic conditions, or other emergencies or irregularities relating to the pickup or delivery of product.

Professional representation of the company and the fuel delivery industry through responsible driving, and professional appearance.
Work Environment
Drivers may spend 40% to 60% of the time out-of-doors, exposed to potentially difficult environmental conditions.
Drivers may be subject to irregular work schedules, temperature and weather extremes, long trips, tight delivery schedules, delays in loading and unloading, and other stresses and fatigue related to driving a large commercial vehicle loaded with large amounts of hazardous and explosive materials on crowded streets and highways, and in all kinds of weather.
Drivers typically spend 25% to 75% of on-duty time in the truck. While driving, operators are exposed to levels of noise and vibration, which may be higher than those typically experienced in a passenger vehicle.

REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Requirements
Must possess a valid commercial driver’s license with the Hazmat and Tanker endorsement.
Must be 21 years of age or older
Preferably have two years previous tractor-trailer driving experience.
Must have the ability to read, write and perform simple mathematical calculations with mental ability to handle receipts, read maps, road signs, maintain logs, and operate onboard computer system.
Must have working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems.
Must have knowledge of DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspection and maintenance, and transportation of hazardous material.
Must be available to work a variety of shifts.
Must meet the medical standards of the U.S. and State Department of Transportation.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to sit and remain alert for an aggregate period of up to 10 hours.
Must be able to shift manual transmission and operate foot pedals.
Must be able to perform occasional crouching, squatting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling to load and unload gasoline and fuel products.
Must be able to enter and exit the vehicle’s cab 12 to 16 times a day. Cab floor level is generally from 36 to 66 inches above ground level, with entry and exit achieved with the assistance of various steps and handholds; also requires occasional bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, crouching, and balancing.
Must be able to perform frequent pushing and pulling of hoses and loading apparatuses weighing up to 100 lbs. without the use of mechanical devices.
Must be able to perform frequent lifting of hoses and loading apparatus weighing up to 100 lbs. up to shoulder level without the use of mechanical devices.
Must be able to occasionally climb stairs or ladders to a height of up to 12 feet and maneuver hoses and loading and unloading equipment at this level.
Must be able to occasionally reach above shoulder level, at waist level and below waist level for maneuvering and directing controls to operate the truck.
Must be able to spend 25% of the day standing and 25% of the day walking on level and uneven surfaces such as concrete, wood and metal, and occasionally on slippery and wet surfaces.
Must be able to hook and unhook commercial vehicle combinations, manually lower and raise landing gear, operate the fifth wheel release lever, climb into and out of vehicles, fuel vehicles, check engine oil and coolant levels, and wash vehicle windows
