Job Description

This position is responsible for transporting loaded and unloaded trailers around the receiving yard in an orderly fashion to ensure proper and timely production.

A yard driver is responsible for weighing in loaded trailers within fifteen minutes of arrival to the yard. At the time of weighing, the yard driver must hitch and move the necessary trailer to the scales for a gross weight reading. Then a ticket must be made listing the grower's name and lot numbers. (If the trailer is not taken to the line immediately upon first weighing, then it will have to be done again to determine shrink weight when it is needed.) Next the trailer should be taken to the live dock where the chains securing the cages will have to be removed and the trailer dollied and dropped. Once the trailer is fully unloaded and the cages are returned to the trailer and re-secured, the truck and trailer needs to be weighed again to determine tare weight. The trailer should then be returned to the shed and tickets with all scale readings (gross, shrinkage, and tare) must be submitted to the appropriate personnel. During this process, the yard driver is required to fill out all supporting documentation and paper work, including: weights, grower’s names, times of weighting etc. and they are expected to perform basic math functions to achieve the correct weight numbers. Additionally, yard drivers are required to fuel the trucks, check the oil and do routine safety checks on the trucks. and all other duties assigned. Driving 18 wheeler valid Driver License 3 Months experience.
