What's the role -

The Logistics Supervisor must demonstrate value through: Consistent delivery of safe, competitive and affordable Logistics services for Exploration activities in the Americas; Localizing Logistics Strategies to achieve a seamless Supply Chain management; Developing local Logistics capacity, capability and community, whilst robustly assuring competencies; Maintaining external focus; Implementing and utilizing fit for purpose standardized Logistics processes, systems, technology and data.

The Logistics Supervisor, by leading and influencing Supplier Leadership, must promote a generative Safety Culture and high safety performance. With HSE support, must: define, develop and deliver Logistics HSSE plans, to ensure all logistics services risks are managed to ALARP; Oversee logistics elements locally (Projects & Wells Campaigns included) ensuring that logistics requirements and HSSE risk elements are identified & evaluated and contracts comply with applicable HSSE CF Shell standards and/or Industry standards, as applicable; Ensure thorough investigation and follow up of all logistics accidents, incidents and near misses; Ensure that HSSE Cases are maintained for all major disciplines and activities, as applicable; Support Project Team in developing and maintaining Emergency Response plans and capability.

Other Logistics business management responsibilities include: Actively pursuing best in class initiatives, and participate in global networks and benchmarking activities related to Logistics operations; Liaising for Technical Assurance and advice with STASCO, SAI, HSSE, and CP; Effectively engaging with internal & external stakeholders to ensure Logistics activities are aligned with Company and Project strategy; Accountable for Logistics Operational Excellence journey and continuous improvement mindset. This position aims to drive learning from events and continuous re-shaping of Logistics delivery based on data analytics and with the goal to build on past improvements to continue to reinvent delivery in more efficient and effective ways. This is important, as this position not only impacts the direct logistics HSSE exposure and direct costs but also creates value across the front-end Supply Chain model through team integration and effective delivery of personnel and material.

From a Leadership and community engagement perspective, this position is critical to protecting Shell’s License to Operate.

The incumbent has the challenge to supervise Logistics workstreams, across multiple countries.

Must oversee safe delivery of all personnel and material movement requirements in support of Exploration activities in Colombia. Scope includes terminal operations, aviation, road, marine transportation, waste management.


Annual HSSE exposure, as reported directly into the Exploration LOB.
Direct reports: contractor staff may be possible.
Works closely with field leaders for all aspects of exploration activities.
Manage relationship and performance of suppliers. Act as Contract Holder, as required.
Enable data and performance visibility around results with the stakeholders.
Drive the implementation of lean principles within the Logistics Delivery scope.
Drive implementation of improvement projects and initiatives, including deployment of logistics tools.
Interact and manage relationships with local regulators, when applicable.


Accountabilities / Responsibilities


Accountable for the development and execution of logistics operations with the objective to generate value to the business unit (critical balance between satisfying stakeholder’s needs/wants, minimizing NPT, while reducing overall cost through effective utilization of resources). Such operations include, but are not limited to, helicopters, fixed-wing aircraft, vessels, terminal, cargo handling equipment, waste management, oil spill response, accommodations, medical support (e.g. COVID management, if needed), import/export, etc.
Support the development and execution of Logistics Contracting Strategies for all scopes of logistics. Once contracts in place, accountable for the appropriate contract management post-award.
Influence suppliers regarding HSSE culture, reporting incidents, NM/UAC’s, collaboration among all interfaces and interactions between suppliers, investigation of events and implementation of learning from them.
Conduct Logistics, Infrastructure, and Resource Assessments (LIRAs) as required.
Responsible for Tier 1 Oil Spill Response.
Responsible for Waste Management.
Responsible for robust Security arrangements for projects’ facilities/operations, and support, as required, security plans for project staff.
Responsible for project Import/Export activities, when applicable.
Responsible, as applicable, for stakeholder management, both internally within Shell, as well as external with key suppliers, peer operators, related trade organizations and regulators (International Health, Navy, Harbor Master, Civil Aviation, et al).
Shepherd the relationship between internal stakeholders and the Logistics assurance support teams (e.g., Aviation, Marine, Road, Waste, Emergency Response).
Accountable for the identification, tracking and risk mitigation of non-conformities across Logistics business (terminal, road transport, vessel operations).
Responsible for tracking financial, reporting, spend, and creating cost forecasts.
Accountable for performance management, data collection, analytics and transparency within the logistics scope.
Responsible for regular performance meetings (BPR’s, Accountability Reviews)
Responsible for the embedment, execution, and improvement of strategies to reduce GHG emissions in logistical operations.
Responsible for organizing Logistics forums (Aviation, Marine, Terminal, Tank Cleaning, Road, Waste Management, etc.).
Assume the role of Contract Holder, as required.
Responsible for the execution of efficient supply chain process flows which enable key value to business stakeholders (e.g. minimize well cost).
Maintain a frequent and effective engagement plan with P&T Wells.
Manage key aspects of COVID management strategy, including hotel, medical and transportations aspects, if applicable.
Focal point for Audits.


What we need from you -


A legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Degree from an accredited college, preferably in Engineering, Logistics, or a closely related field.
With at least 3 years direct, hands-on experience in planning & execution of Offshore Deepwater Drilling projects required; preferably in new countries
Verbal and writing fluency in Spanish is required
Team based organizational skills, creating a culture of learning and commitment to high performance, and works well with other leaders to ensure inter-departmental and inter-asset best practice sharing and learning.
Demonstrated commitment to learning and improving own personal leadership and effectiveness, a passion and competency in coaching & mentoring.
Ability to influence business leaders at different levels to ensure the efficacy of end-to-end logistics delivery over the planning life cycle.
Proven ability to Coach/Mentor/Develop Shell and Supplier teams.
HSSE competency assessed (or able to complete shortly after assignment).
Maritime and marine terminal operation knowledge.
Trained in the US Incident Command System (ICS).
Ability to travel internationally, 25%-50% of the time, possibly to include international assignments with short notice.
