SUMMARY:
Oversees relationship with global transportation providers
Ensure cross functional collaboration and alignment on strategic plans necessary to provide Tyson competitive advantage
Ensure team leaders develop and execute tactical global transportation plans.
Procurement of global transportation capacity (ocean, rail & air freight)
Establishing, maintaining and enhancing professional relationship with global transportation providers (ocean, rail & air freight)
Delivers expected business results placing customer first while continually striving to maximize efficiency and deliver optimal cost to serve
Partnership with systems/product & compliance on digital and automated support for all commodities/products shipped to global customers
Support continuous improvement and change management
Lead and develop team to support Tyson transportation and total company initiatives
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Position is responsible that all team leaders have clearly defined responsibilities and understand their specific roles to achieve service and financial goals.
Align with finance on annual operating plan
Planning and optimizing global carrier resources to meet and exceed domestic and international service goals while minimizing transportation costs
Deliver the financial plan.
Execute ocean, drayage and domestics RFPs with the goal of balancing service and cost
Provide committed contracts and significantly improve load visibility and level of service
Optimize origin container loading designed to reduce total days of transit to international customers
Ensure teams develop risk management and contingency planning related to trends and threats impacting Global transportation providers and Global BUs
Develop and continually improve team structure. Incorporate market trends, forecasts and customer needs to determine team member roles and responsibilities are aligned to deliver world class service and lowest possible expense.
Models the Tyson values and culture. Builds strong relationships and trust with internal and external team members and business partners. Creates discipline and focus around developing talent, building talent pipeline and fostering environment that empowers team members.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: BS degree in Logistics a plus or BS degree in Business and/or 10 plus years of logistics, distribution and transportation.
Experience: Global carrier procurement, Global Supply Chain/Transportation operations, P&L management preferred.
Computer skills: Versed in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and various supply chain operating systems.
Communication skills: Executive level written, presentation and verbal skills.
Preferred skills: Experience managing global transportation providers, ocean operations, international markets.
Travel: Field travel, including potential for international travel, required to support global operations, internal and external business partners
