SUMMARY: This position is responsible for optimizing the carrier selection process for a specifically-defined geographical region. This includes balancing the interrelationship of cost and service in order to maintain our current leadership position in on-time delivery while minimizing our overall transportation expense. Daily duties include: coordinating and selecting a carrier, rating the shipments from carrier contracts and assuring loads are picked up at loading facilities and delivered on time to our customers, solving problems involving late orders, delivery appointments, and weight and cube deficiencies or excesses while at the same time ensuring Tyson's service standards are achieved. Additional responsibilities include monitoring key customer accounts daily, reviewing any additional charges incurred by the carriers and allocating the cost to the appropriate locations, and auditing freight bills. Coordinators should be confident in calling and receiving calls from customers/sales with questions regarding their deliveries and perform other duties as the need arises. This position is also responsible for mitigating claims and detention cost.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Knowledge of high school subject matter such as mathematics, grammar, office equipment and business practices helpful. Normally acquired by four years of high school, a vocational school or equivalent.
Experience: 2 years' transportation experience preferred; supervisory experience preferred.
Computer Skills: Basic computer skills; FM legacy systems, TES, OTR software skills preferred.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Special Skills: OTR, and Microsoft Access preferred.
