POSITION: Fleet Services Technician
POSITION NO: 1.247
DEPT: Public Works
This position provides customer service and administrative support to the Fleet Maintenance Division of Public Works Department in accordance with established principles, practices, and procedures. Responsibilities include writing service orders, preparing reports, compiling data, and administrative tasks necessary to the operation of the Fleet Division. Employee must maintain effective working relationships.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Considerable knowledge of customer service practices and procedures; related fleet operations.
Considerable knowledge in parts procurement, and inventory management.
Knowledge of methods and techniques relating to data accumulation, report preparation, and standard office practices and procedures.
Knowledge of recordkeeping practices and procedures.
Ability to enter repair orders.
Knowledge of safety precautions to avoid occupational hazards.
Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to lift, carry, pull, push, and maneuver bulky and heavy materials; lifting of objects up to 75 pounds and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds overhead.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public and exercise good judgment and tact when addressing the public.
Training, Certification, and Experience
High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum of one-year mechanical experience.
Fleet operations experience preferred.
Training in inspecting, diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues.
Service Writer experience.
Or, an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Special Requirements
Valid Florida Commercial “B” (with air brakes) driver’s license.
Ability to drive vehicles with manual transmissions.
