Job Purpose/Summary:
This position is responsible for leading the Strategic enterprise network model design to simulate alternative end to end network opportunities in quest of improved operating efficiencies and cost reduction. The Transportation Modeling Manager will design scenarios, load data, maintain data integrity, and resolve infeasibilities to derive a functioning and feasible model. The primary functions and purpose of the position is to recommend and test network scenarios for a new modeling system; determine optimal sizing for the Private Fleet and existing transportation capacity; and identify and implement changes to the network that provide savings opportunities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manager will propose and implement network changes for complex operational Transportation network. Position will collaborate with business unit decision makers; shepherd changes to successful implementation. Coordination with many groups including senior Leadership, Operations, Services, and Accounting to understand business impacts, gather relevant requirements and educate users on implications of network changes. The decisions made by the Network Modeling Manager will result in decisions that can have both financial, transportation capacity, as well operational business impacts which impact spend on $2 Billion of Tyson’s annual operational costs. The project has an estimated savings of $5M per year .
Requirements:
Education/Certifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent Transportation/Warehousing experience
Experience: 3 – 5 years
Preferred business system experience – Transportation Optimization Modeling: JDA/Blue Yonder (Llamasoft, or similar also relevant), ERP experience: SAP (Oracle or similar also relevant), database/data-engineering and ETL experience.
Computer Skills: Excellent
Communication Skills: Excellent
Special Skills: Transportation knowledge, Working knowledge of customized operations modeling and optimization tools
Supervisory: None
Travel: 1 – 6/year
