This position is responsible for operating trucks and moving trailers in and out of loading areas while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
Summary
Ensure that trailers are placed at proper dock doors and trailers are pulled away from loading dock when completed. Follows procedures and SOPs established in Shipping Manual. Primary responsibility is all trailer movement on a given shift. Ensure dock locks and/or wheel chocks are in place to secure trailer safety. Coordinates trailer movement with Shipping Lead or Shipping Supervisor to serve as a spotter as needed. Removes trailers from dock doors upon completion. Maintains integrity of trailer parking area. Maintains tractor appearance upkeep ( inside and out ). Ensures adequate fuel levels in trailers. Ensures all trailer doors are closed and sealed properly. Operates forklift as needed. Performs Shipping forklift operator responsibilities as needed. Separates and load pallets as needed. Responsible for communicating with supervisor and/or lead issues which require attention from management. Responsible for keeping work area and station organized, clean and free of unnecessary clutter. Responsible for being able to use and troubleshoot all LPN / Bar Code handheld devices and PC based applications for product labeling per the established procedures. Must adhere to all safety policies and operate equipment in a safe manner always keeping in mind your own safety as well as other team members. Abide by all company policies / procedures, written or verbal. Work as a team member toward task accomplishments. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required for the Position
Must be able to drive and operate a tractor trailer. Must have shipping experience. Must be a licensed forklift operator. Must be able to fill out all required Shipping paperwork in an accurate and timely manner. Communicate effectively, both written and orally, with production and QA on a regular basis. Be able to perform all jobs in shipping. Job requires walking, standing, bending and lifting to 40 lbs. on a frequent basis in cold, hot and rainy conditions. Must be physically able to perform in all-weather environments. Must be able to perform data entry into the computer-based shipping system as well as the use and operation of the bar code system. Must be able to perform essential functions of job with or without reasonable accommodation. Training on Shuttle Driver responsibilities will be on-the-job training conducted by the Shipping Supervisor. Team members will be evaluated on job performance in accordance with the Training Program SOP
