POSITION SUMMARY:
The Kitchen Assistant supports a variety of needed functions in the kitchen, including washing dishes, filling invoices, putting deliveries away, cleaning and serving as a backup driver in the absence of the main driver. This includes loading/unloading the van and making multiple deliveries within a short timeframe.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIRED:
· Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions with supervisor, coworkers and customers/meal delivery sites.
· Must adhere to all food safety regulations.
· Excellent driving skills are required along with a valid driver’s license.
· Employee will assume full responsibility for the cost and efforts of maintaining a valid RI Driver’s license.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
· You must be able to stand the entire shift.
· During bad weather you will be required to do some shoveling to help open up the kitchen entrance, if you are delivering during bad weather you are required to clean van off of snow.
· You must be respectful of property, speak respectfully and dress appropriately at all delivery destinations. Dress code is casual, clean jeans/pants without holes, rips or undergarments showing, comfortable shoes, no sleeveless shirts.
· You will need a cell phone that you can communicate with your supervisor or kitchen staff by call or text and should be able to access a map as the van does not have GPS capability.
· Heavy lifting is required for this position, along with a filled warming unit many boxes, cases of beverages are cumbersome, and some sites require several trips inside. You must be able to safely carry 70lbs onto a cart and be able to unload it at the destination.
· You must be able to push a loaded cart up ramps or carry boxes up steps.
· Hours for this position will be 8am – 1pm, Monday – Thursday unless main driver is absent then hours change to 7am – 1pm Monday – Friday.
· All sites need deliveries by 12 to accommodate mealtimes.
