issues which may affect inbound or outbound performance.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:nAssist in resolving any system issues which may arise in daily load processing.nMonitor carrier and system status messages and mitigate any expected inbound and/or outbound delivery impacts.nCommunicate daily with Director of Transportation, Claims Coordinator, and Transportation Supervisors, Transportation Leads, and Transportation Operations Associates (TOAs) concerning shipping activities.u00a0nCommunicate daily with warehouse operations teams and RDC carriers to facilitate efficient production levels and yard operations.nOversee, hire, train, develop, evaluate and maintain discipline of Transportation Supervisors, Transportation Leads, and TOAs.nCoordinate personnel coverage to insure required transportation functions are completed, and provide adequate support to TOA positions and yard activities.nManage yard service (yard jockey) operations to maintain adequate service levels to support RDC warehouse operations.nOversee yard processes to insure accuracy of trailer locations, temperature settings, refrigerated trailer performance, and safety for all associates and contractors involved in yard operations.nHave knowledge of and effectively administer all company policies and procedures, including training, disciplining and termination of associates.u00a0nMaintain accurate filing system.nBack up the TOAs, Transportation Leads, and Transportation Supervisors in their absence in all of their duties and responsibilities.nUnderstand and comply with all applicable company policies (i.e. attendance, Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, Associate Handbook, etc.).nAccept additional responsibilities or special projects as requested.u00a0 Other duties may be assigned.nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESnnnProvide direction and leadership up to nine persons in the Transportation Department including supervisors, a lead, and transportation ops associates in the completion of assigned activities and responsibilities.u00a0nResponsible for associate performance evaluations of direct reports on an annual basis for the purpose of communicating and properly documenting expectations and evaluations to the staff.u00a0nProvide ongoing feedback on the performance of subordinates and the department by monitoring activities and reports.u00a0 Provide ongoing communications of any issues and status to transportation management.nnDetermine and provide training and development of staff members as needed.nAssist in personnel recruitment to fulfill departmental staffing requirements.nQUALIFICATIONSnTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty logistics/transportation operations and available transportation services for the area and industry.u00a0nBasic computer knowledge.nLANGUAGE SKILLSnMust be articulate and effective with written and verbal communication with individuals of broadly varying backgrounds and educational levels.u00a0 Must have clear, concise written and oral communication skills.u00a0nMust have ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.u00a0 Must have ability to effectively present information to a large audience and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, contractors, and customers.nMATHEMATICAL SKILLSMust have ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest,
