Distribution Jobs description

A distributor supervises the activities of workers engaged in receiving, storing, testing, and shipping products or materials. A distributor plans, develops, and implements warehouse safety and security programs and activities. A distributor reviews invoices, work orders, consumption reports, and demand forecasts in order to estimate peak delivery periods and to issue work assignments. A distributor has responsibility to schedule and monitor air or surface pickup, delivery, or distribution of products or materials. A distributor interviews, selects, and trains warehouse and supervisory personnel. A distributor confers with department heads to coordinate warehouse activities, such as production, sales, records control, and purchasing. A distributor responds to customers' or shippers' questions and complaints regarding storage and distribution services. A distributor is responsible to inspect physical conditions of warehouses, vehicle fleets, and equipment, and must order testing, maintenance, repair, or replacement as necessary. A distributor develops and documents standard and emergency operating procedures.

A distributor should have a master's degree in business administration or distribution management and a minimum of three years of experience as a distributor. A distributor must have excellent managerial skills and a solid understanding of economics. A distributor must be able to ensure that new products reach the right markets at the optimal time.
