Transportation Planner Jobs
A transportation planner provides leadership, coordination, and authoritative technical and administrative guidance to state and local government officials, planners, and engineers in the formulation, direction, and execution of statewide and urban transportation planning and programming processes. A transportation planner coaches and mentors team members to assist them in accomplishing their assigned tasks and developing as professionals. A transportation planner's responsibilities include ensuring the timely performance of a satisfactory amount of quality work; reviewing the work products of team members; and accepting, amending, or rejecting work while providing constructive input on any needed improvements.
A transportation planner should have significant experience with using advanced planning principles and practices in order to provide advice and expertise in resolving complex problems and providing recommendations resulting in significant impacts to the community. In addition, a transportation planner should have knowledge of hazardous cargo movement procedures and skill in planning and executing safe air cargo loading. A transportation planner should also have the ability to use computerized systems to identify, monitor, and coordinate passenger, cargo, and aircraft servicing requirements.
