Route Driver Jobs

A route driver is responsible for delivering pre-ordered product to assigned accounts and for rotating and stocking product. Route drivers must also check the accuracy and stability of the load; deliver products to customers; display and rotate products according to company standards; maintain invoices and collect monies due; secure company assets; ensure compliance with regulatory and company policies and procedures; and settle all accounts daily before leaving the terminal or warehouse. A route driver has to check the fuel level and oil in his or her truck and inspect the truck to make sure that the brakes, windshield wipers, and lights are working and that a fire extinguisher, flares, and other safety equipment are on board and in working order.
A route driver should have high a school diploma and one to three years of general work experience. One year of commercial driving experience is preferred. A route driver must have the ability to operate a two- or four-wheel dolly and the ability to work with minimal supervision. A route driver must have a valid Class A driver’s license. A strong candidate will have a clean driving record, be able to pass a written test on rules and regulations, and be able to demonstrate that he or she can operate a commercial truck safely.
