Transportation Manager Jobs
A transportation manager position requires an exceptional knowledge of merchant marine vessel navigation, cargo handling, and deck operations, and knowledge of the licensing, documentation, and examination of merchant marines. A transportation manager is responsible for the creation and administration of examinations for merchant marine deck licenses and documents. A transportation manager develops examinations and establishes the specifications for testing knowledge to assess the competency of candidates for all levels of merchant marine deck licenses and documents. A transportation manager acts as a liaison with the maritime industry, maritime academies, training institutions, and Coast Guard field units to determine the effectiveness of these examinations.
A bachelor's degree and considerable relevant work experience is required for a transportation manager position. In addition, a transportation manager should have knowledge of budget, financial, and resource management practices and procedures relevant to meeting program goals and objectives.
